For the Blackberry Sauce

  • 1.5 cups blackberries Bursting with juicy sweetness
  • 0.25 cups sugar To sweeten the sauce
  • 0.25 cups water For the perfect sauce consistency
  • a pinch salt Elevating all the flavors
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar Providing a tangy depth
  • 2 leaves fresh basil Adding aromatic freshness

For the Candied Pecans

  • 1 cup chopped pecans Introducing delightful crunch
  • 1 tablespoon butter For luscious candied pecans
  • 0.25 cups sugar For coating the pecans

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). Carefully remove the top layer of the rind from the brie and place it on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine blackberries, 1/4 cup of sugar, water, a pinch of salt, and balsamic vinegar. Mash the mixture gently to release the blackberries’ juices.
  • Cook the saucepan over medium-high heat for about 10 minutes until the sauce thickens and reduces slightly. Remove from heat.

Infusing the Sauce

  • Add basil leaves to the sauce and let them steep in the warm mixture for 10 minutes. Discard the basil.

Preparing the Pecans

  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add chopped pecans. Toast until fragrant and slightly golden.
  • Add remaining sugar and butter to the skillet, stirring until the sugar melts and coats the pecans.
  • Remove from heat and spread pecans on a plate to cool.

Assembly

  • Generously top the warmed brie with blackberry sauce and sprinkle with candied pecans.
  • Bake in the oven for 5-7 minutes until the brie is warm and gooey. Serve with assorted crackers.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a sprig of rosemary or a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes to the sauce. Make the sauce and pecans a day ahead for convenience.
